We all have heard of many problems that have come with new drugs and this book shows the industry at it's best and at it's worst. It also makes you realize all of the hoops the pharmaceutical industry has to jump to get a new drug approved. I'm glad they do because even with all the good drugs and how safe they are there can still be problems. Let us hope the problems stay few and far between. This book tells that story very well.Product details

I somehow missed this one when it was published. Great plot, very well researched and still particularly timely subject matter. I highly recommend
as I continue to try to figure out what makes a good story I again fail to be able to dissect the story to identify why this is such an engaging book but for me it was. I do found the topic one that interests me . The characters test where fallible and believable. Hailey rocks as a storyteller.
Undoubtedly a superb novel that lets you learn the mechanism and machination prevalent in Pharmaceutical industry! Must read
Dated but largely relevant. Narrative is probably true to life, trusting author's research. Reveals the inner workings of big pharmaceutical companies, their historical contributions and deceptions to the public. Dramatizes the unrolling of fictional drugs as well as familiar catastrophes such as thalidomide. Narrates the joys of successes and horrors of company failures.
I enjoyed reading this book, got a little bit away from the medicine for me and a little bit to political for my taste.
A fantastic read with numerous 'threads' to keep the story alive. My only real regret was that I was left 'hanging' and I would dearly have loved to read a following non- existant chapter.
The reality of decisions which are faced by executives of the Pharm Industry and the likelihood of Key people making the wrong decisions for the wrong reasons. illiustration of risk versus reward when those decisions are made to either benefit society or themselves. The likelihood of an individual becoming the fall person for someone else's poor decision and the reality of a government body being very biased in committee hearings and also becoming self serving.
It shows how the whole system can be flawed by a few for the gain of a few.
