Book 2 of “The Evil Secrets” trilogy was even better than book 1. The plot line continues and any unanswered questions are resolved. Of course, additional questions are posited, although these will probably be resolved at the conclusion of the final novel. I greatly enjoyed this novel. The reader is reintroduced to many of the book 1 protagonists, with new emphasis on Baylee Scott. I liked Baylee better than I did Kit. She appeared to be less selfish and self-absorbed than Kit, although Baylee also endured abuse by an uncaring parent.The novel’s pacing was fast, the character development realistic and engrossing. One of the best qualities of “Deeper Evil” was experiencing the demise of the criminal characters by an unknown person skilled at killing and fleeing the scene. This person is developed more fully than in book 1. The reader becomes more acquainted with this character. I find myself hoping I get to know them more in book 3. I plan on beginning this novel tonight.
The author has done a terrific job writing this trilogy.

The intrigue continued as to who was this avenging hero, but it was pretty much a rehash of the first book, just the hook-up of two different people (first book Jake and Kit, this book Baylee and Dylan). A little romance is fine, but way too much gratuitous sex for my liking. Maybe it's me, but do people really "fall in love" and jump in bed together this quickly? Would someone you've only known a matter of weeks really have his name put on the birth records as the father of a baby he only just met? And would a hot, young, well-off, single, attractive man give it all up and have someone move in with her baby in such short order? Good thing the suspense part of the book kept me interested otherwise I would have closed this book and moved on to something a little more realistic.
I say not a trilogy because a trilogy is three separate novels with the same main characters but new adventures or stories. This, on the other hand, is one novel, chopped into three books...just so you’ll have to buy three books. Book one was ok and I think I gave it three stars because it did have a lot of action and the story was intriguing. But, it just ended and left me hanging. I bought the second, just to see what happened. It basically concluded in the first couple of chapters. Then it went on with the second of three female friends from childhood becoming the main character. It was basically the same story with different main characters. The entire book two was severely boring until the last two chapters. I hate these books that do that and I usually don’t buy another book of that author. This is more of a soap opera that the only ending is at the end of the series. Very clever way to sell more books but I hate it. Besides, the writing is not that good and it’s a little immature. The love scenes are boarder line porn and that’s ok. They are pretty steamy. But overall the story is getting pretty boring. I’m debating whether or not to buy the third, and hopefully final, book. Since they are calling it a trilogy, there should only be three, but who knows, this author may get greedy and write a never ending story.
When I read Just Evil, I was floored by the author's amazing ability to write suspense. She can hook you, reel you in and then just as the suspense builds, she shifts gears and leaves you wanting more!! I was, as they say, on the edge of my seat through the entire book. I'm still eager to figure out who the woman in the painting is and how she is tied into the story!
I love how Deeper Evil focuses on Baylee and Dylan's sweet story. They are utterly perfect for each other and their romance is AMAZING!!! Perhaps the most surprising part of Deeper Evil is the mystery of the hit man. Normally I wouldn't root for a "bad guy" but as the book evolved I found myself actually liking him too.
I read at least a book a week and one of my biggest disappointments is when I cannot connect with the characters. Vickie creates loveable, real characters who get into your heart and stay there. Reading is such an escape for me and I definitely got lost in this book. I can't wait for the conclusion!!!!
Having read book one Just Evil, I immediately purchase Deeper Evil.
The main characters are three young women who are strong and devoted to each other. They all experienced reprehensible parents until they could escape the abuse each had suffered! United since early elementary school, Kit, Baylee and Quinn were the only support system each girl had growing up.
Surviving their nightmare childhood, they meet three extremely sexy young men who have mutually supportive friendship! Like many RS novels, the reader must suspend belief and embrace the fantasy. These characters are beautiful, loving , sexy and essentially perfect versions of themselves!
This is juxtaposed to the evil, black-hearted and hateful antagonists with no redeeming values! So it's enthralling when Justice is served!
This fairytale has a happy ending, arousing sexual encounters, tear worthy moments and the joy of good defeating evil. The saga continues in the exciting conclusion Ending Evil book three!
